Hamidou, 12, and his family fled to Turkey after their home was destroyed in Syria’s crisis. Hamidou and his eleven brothers have since returned to the suburbs of Aleppo.

“We were very scared when we heard the aircraft. My grandfather’s house was also bombed so he came with us to Turkey,” he said.

“We are back now, living in the rubble of our destroyed house. There was nothing left when we returned, everything was destroyed and burned. I hope we can go back to living how we used to – going back to school, playing with my friends, watching TV, and having electricity.

“I want to live like other children across the world. I want to go back to school to study to be a doctor, so that I can provide treatment for children.”
