The Programme Coordinator reports to Head of Programmes and s/he will be responsible for planning, implementation of projects, coordination with donors, UN agencies, government ministries’ and clusters to secure and implement projects for Syria and Turkey to contribute in achieving the overall organizational goal.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support in planning and designing project concept notes and proposals for different donors including UN agencies, DFID, ECHO, EC etc
- Closely follow the implementation of Islamic Relief on-going projects in Syria and Turkey
- Designing new project concept notes and proposals as per donor guidelines.
- Finalizing detailed implementation plans to follow the progress of projects in coordination with the team inside Syria and other departments
- Regular communication with team in Syria to ensure projects implementation as per the finalized detailed implementation plan
- Review the progress of projects and ensure the budget is expensed as per plan
- Receiving, reviewing and finalizing project interim and final reports as per the donor formats and submitting as per the deadlines
- Receiving, reviewing and submitting 4Ws to the clusters on monthly basis
- Reviewing and finalizing monthly project updates and suggest changes in required
- Identifying new funding possibilities from donors, partners and government authorities and share with field team to design new projects
- Looking for new possibilities of forming consortia to apply for donor funding
- Coordinating and finalizing emergency alerts and situation updates on timely basis in order to provide immediate response
- Maintaining archives for all project documents including project proposal, budget, monthly updates, interim and final reports, distribution records, handing over records meeting minutes etc
- Maintain communication and correspondence with local partners, clusters, donors, government departments, INGOs, UN agencies etc
- To carry out other responsibilities and duties advised by the line manager
Personal Specification:
Experience / Education/Skills – Essential
- University degree in social sciences/project management/economics or equivalent
- Minimum 3-5 years of progressive responsibility for projects management in relevant field
Competencies:
• Strong knowledge of developing and implementation of projects in emergency context
• Good skill of designing and implementing the projects related to food security, agriculture,
• income generation, health, WASH, education etc
• Strong communication, interpersonal and technical skills
• Proven ability to work independently and as a team member
• Ability to multi-task effectively as well as display professionalism and confidence
• Ability to work under pressure, with short time frames, and in risky situations
• Ability to travel to Syria and other hard to reach areas if required
Language
- English and Arabic (written and spoken) is essential, Turkish is highly desirable **
IT skills
• Strong computer skills
• Proficiency in MS Office and the ability to use the software necessary for project management
• and reporting (Excel and Word is a must)
