Um Ali, a mother-of-five, was forced to leave her home in Aleppo and flee to Bab Al Salameh camp on the Syrian-Turkish border.
During Ramadan, the holiest month of the Islamic calendar, each day Muslims around the world abstain from food and drink from sunrise to sunset.
Syrians have a similar ritual but they are fasting in very difficult circumstances. Every year we aim to reach more people in Syria than we reached in the previous year.
Last Ramadan we distributed 30,000 food parcels – an essential service in a country where more than half of the 22 million-strong population has left home in search of safety. Our distributions, including one in Aleppo, have provided a lifeline in communities where crisis or disaster has left people stranded and unable to support themselves and their loved ones.
