Damaged infrastructure has restricted the supply of flour to bakeries, the heart of Syrian society. To address the shortage, Islamic Relief has distributed 10,500 bags of flour (holding 25kg each) in affected areas.

The flour was used to bake bread, providing a nutritional boost for 3,500 families (more than 17,000 individuals) in northern Syria.

Islamic Relief also established a bakery in Aleppo to support people who have no access to food in the areas of Aliiss and Alhadher.

The $112,000 bakery was constructed in three months and now provides bread to thousands of families at a reduced cost, producing around 14,000 bags (with 10 loaves in each) a day. It is managed by a local partner and overseen by Islamic Relief.
