About Us

Syria crisis is the most critical humanitarian calamity of our time. Humanitarian needs are increasing and number of people fleeing their homes is increasing.

Syria crisis has entered its sixth year with no sight of any solution or ending. People continue to suffer from violence, displacement, and destruction. 13.5 million people need humanitarian support including 4.6 million people in need trapped in besieged and hard-to-reach areas, where they are living in very miserable conditions as they are not to be able to move and access to food, health care, and water.

More than half of the population has fled their homes and many have been displaced where most of them are children. 4,898,353 Syrian people have sought refuge in neighbouring countries. The crisis is worsening especially after the neighbouring countries restrictions on the admission of people leaving Syria resulting in hundreds of thousands of people trapped in dreadful conditions on their borders.

Despite the international humanitarian organisations efforts to help and support the people in need, the crisis are deepening and needs are increasing in all life aspects. The humanitarian situation is very disastrous in Aleppo, Idlib, and besieged areas such as MadayaEast GhoutaWest GhoutaSouthern Damascus suburbNorthern Homs SuburbsDaryya, and Moaddamya.  In the light of these difficult conditions of Syrian people under the conflict, Islamic Relief has been working on alleviating the suffering of Syrian people affected by the ongoing conflict and violence across the country. Since 2012, we have been able to reach more than 8 million people in various sectors such as shelter, food, NFIs, heath, WASH, and education. Our partnership with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has enabled us to reach 65,000 people in Idlib and Aleppo. We have also been supported the vulnerable people caught in the besieged areas assisting thousands of people with food and NFIs assistance.
